Virtus.pro has dropped its Dota 2 roster following a series of lackluster performances in 2016

Following a roster shuffle back in March, that saw the team acquire Maxim “yoky” Kim and Alexander “NoFear” Churochkin, the team’s performance continued to deteriorate for several months. It was a big departure from their excellent form in 2015, when Virtus.pro was consistently one of the best teams in EU, following a top six finish at The International 5.

During the roster's International run they were able to defeat teams like tournament favorites Team Secret on the way. They also managed to place highly at several important LAN tournaments, sometimes even winning matches against some of the strongest teams in the world.

The main complaint at the new roster was the seemingly constant role-swapping between a few players, which often led to unsatisfactory results.

The Virtus.pro organization states that the team’s weak performance at the recent International 6 Regional Qualifiers was ultimately the last straw. While the team showed flashes of its former glory in some of the matches, their final record in the group stage was not enough to progress to the play-offs.

Virtus.pro appears to be open to working with certain members of their former roster in the future, so it’s likely that we will see some of the bigger names, such as Sergey "G" Bragin, be a part of the new squad. We expect to hear the news about a new Virtus.pro Dota 2 roster sometime after The International 6.
